A tsunami wave of epic proportions is churning within the borough of Queens NY from the libraries bringing about a massive flood of historical change making ripples in the ocean of freedom ready to unleash the power of our Queens community to rise and break the stark divide that has been imposed upon our beloved books. How was this wave formed? It all started with a single drop in the ocean that caused a ripple effect as we continued to gather together in the name of freeing the books that have been labeled as outcasts within our society. We used our voices to band together to amplify our message of reporting censorship of the books that have been buried for so long in the shadows and outskirts of society. Our voices transform into a spinning tornado so influential that it shakes the man-made cage, snaps and casts the lock that has been iron clad since the dawning of time into oblivion as it sinks into the waters of freedom consumed and ready to become an ancient relic at the bottom of the ocean corroded by the salty tears that were once shed for our books being banned for eons to come as its power becomes permanently eroded. The books, although set on fire to burn and disintegrate from our vision instead use these very flames to fuel, launch and soar forevermore in droves out of the cage as they flutter all about in all of their glory as each person is finally allowed to unlock their visionary mind to the once silenced author voices that await them between the pages of book. Queens is New York City’s most culturally rich and diverse borough represented by silhouettes of all of the colors of the rainbow spectrum so that the viewer can identify with one of the readers in the story to envision themselves as part of this collective voice to rise above and beyond to halt the ban of our books. The literary works of art are finally set free to fly as they uplift the human spirit and enrich the mind as their tree of knowledge grows and becomes nourished with the newfound wealth of stories lining the shelves of all of the intertwined tree branches of the libraries as they are now available to be read, seen, heard, acknowledged and celebrated. Our eyes can finally open to absorb these written works with the key of freedom in our grasp as we become enlightened and celebrate each book that has broken free from the toxic chains and flames that have tried to literally extinguish their light of perspective that they have illuminating within their pages to offer for us. The pulse of our Queens community comes alive with each verse of a prohibited book that was set free to enrich our lives. A bold spotlight shines the light of hope and resilience to lead the way for the future of these once banned books as it becomes rewritten thanks to the collective efforts of all of our voices banding together to set them free as they continue their journey into the night sky of our limitless imaginations. A rainbow burst of confetti eternally swirls all around to celebrate our freedom to read in Queens!
