Japanese food is full of exquisite and varied dishes. This is particularly the case with Omuraisu: the rice omelet. It sounds banal when you say it like that! But it is a slightly sweet omelette, covering Japanese rice like a blanket on a bed. On top, ketchup (which is not very Japanese, I grant you!).
The last time I had the chance to eat an Omuraisu, it was covered with a thick layer of cheese... For a Frenchman, there is nothing better than cheese! The consistency was so elastic that every time I lifted the Japanese omelet, I felt like I was seeing a culinary monster. A real Kaiju, a Godzilla of cheese, omelette and rice!
The Kaiju are those monsters of Japan quite similar to King Kong, part of the subculture and pop culture of Japan. From the gigantic Godzilla to the Mothra, the Kaiju destroys everything in its path: Japanese castle, skyscraper, tank, ... In the end, while eating this omuraisu, it was probably my stomach that was devastated!
