It was 1991. I surged ahead in the first annual St. Marys Optimist Club Nintendo Challenge. Wasn't the oldest kid competing, and I was feeling the pressure. I played Super Mario 3 like I lived in the mushroom Kingdom myself - no one was going to beat on this day. Crowned champion, I basked in local stardom and cemented a love for video games. Now, I'm old - but I still love 8-bit Nintendo action! Yah!
